Prefabricated Steel Poultry Farm

Agricultural / Poultry Farm / Chicken Farm / Broiler poultry farm / Egg Poultry Farm / Foster Poultry Farm
A poultry farm is a place where poultry is raised. Most poultry farms usually raise chickens, turkeys, ducks, or geese. Poultry farming means the commercial raising of poultry. Now both rural and urban areas, poultry farming has been given a commercial form. Taking chicken poultry farms as an example, chicken is the most common species used for meat and eggs in poultry farms. Chickens raised for meat are called broilers. Chickens raised for eggs are called laying hens. There are also special breeds of poultry that are raised for shows and competitions. If you want to do a hatchery egg business then you have to raise laying hens. If you want to do chicken business then you have to raise broiler chickens. Or you can do both businesses together. When you have determined the breeding direction, then you can start building your poultry farm buildings. Compared to traditional concrete buildings, all components of steel structure poultry houses are prefabricated in the factory, and only simply assembled on site. Therefore, the structural performance is good, the construction period is short, and the wind resistance is strong.

What are the Types of Poultry Farms?

Poultry farming is a broad industry. Poultry farming has different purposes, but these different chicken poultry farm types are similar in farm building’s appearance. In this article, we divide it into different types of poultry farms to introduce to you according to different feeding purposes. There are usually 3 types of live poultry farms in the poultry industry, broiler poultry farms, egg poultry farms, and foster poultry farms.

Broiler poultry farms: Large-scale chicken farming is more convenient for scientific and systematic management. Large poultry farms can greatly reduce costs and improve the production efficiency of livestock and poultry products. A prefab broiler poultry farm is a fully enclosed environment with automatic temperature and humidity control, a 24-hour ventilation system, automatic water supply, and automatic feeding, which provides a stable, comfortable, and suitable environment for the growth of chickens. Grown broilers are processed and marketed to consumers, grocery stores, or fast food chains as whole chickens, breast meat, wings, boneless breasts, drumsticks, claws, and offal.

Egg poultry farms: used to raise laying chickens and produce eggs for human consumption. Pullets are purchased at 17 weeks of age and can start laying eggs around 18 weeks. Regarding Layer poultry farm design, we recommend that you build an automatic layer poultry farm, and use the whole process of cage breeding in this egg-laying chicken poultry farm. Four-layer fully overlapping brooding cages are used in the chick stage, and step-type brooding cages are used for rearing chickens and laying hens. The main advantages of automatic layer poultry farm are: ①increase stocking density; ②save feed; ③chicken can’t touch manure, which is beneficial to flock epidemic prevention; ④the eggs are relatively clean; ⑤ Can eliminate eggs outside the nest; ⑥ Easy to manage and so on.

Relatively complete foster poultry farms are mostly composed of two parts, one is a hatch poultry farm and the other is a breeder poultry farm. Of course, you can also run them separately.

Hatch poultry farm

This type of hatch poultry farm operates exclusively as a hatchery, breeding, and hatching chicks for supply to other poultry farms. The eggs are placed in the incubator for 18 days, then they are transferred to the incubator for 3 days and hatched on the 21st day. Chicks from hatch poultry farms are usually ready for sale when they are a day old.

Breeder poultry farm

This type of breeder poultry farm, also called pullet farm, specializes in the production of hatching eggs for delivery to hatch poultry farms for hatching. Foster poultry farms hatchlings and roosters are transported to breeder poultry farms at 20-22 weeks of age, where they can breed and lay eggs when they are sexually mature. Breeder chickens are usually housed in a temperature-controlled environment.

Poultry Farm Design

When making a poultry farm design, factors such as the ground, walls, shape, and ventilation conditions of the poultry farm should be considered according to the type of the poultry farm and the objects to be raised, in order to achieve the best environment in the house and meet the needs of production.

Poultry farm design must first consider the location selection, not only to consider the requirements for the surrounding environment but also to try to avoid the impact of the smell and dirt produced by the poultry farm on the surrounding environment. The chicken farm site selection should consider the following factors:
  • Topography: The site of the chicken poultry farm should choose a sunny, ventilated, and well-drained environment, and pay attention to the local climate change conditions.
  • Geography and transportation: Chicken poultry farms should be built in the suburbs, and there are no factories that produce noise and chemical odors nearby. Such a place is both quiet and hygienic. It should be kept away from places with frequent vehicular traffic but should be easily accessible for the entry of raw materials and products.
  • Soil and water source: The soil of the poultry farm should have certain sanitary conditions, requiring sufficient water source, good water quality, no germs and poisons in the water source, no odor, fresh and transparent, and meeting drinking water standards.
  • Sufficient power supply: In addition to the 24-hour power supply required by the hatching room in the chicken poultry farm, the light of the chicken flock must also be supplied with electricity. Therefore, for larger poultry farms, it is necessary to have a backup power source, such as a dual-line power supply or a generator.

The hatch poultry farms should be separated from all chicken houses by a certain distance, and it is best to set up outside the entire chicken poultry farm because the chicks out of the hatching room are most vulnerable to various external bacteria, viruses, parasites, and other pathogens. In the production area of the chicken poultry farm, the chicken flocks should be divided into several feeding areas according to the size and feeding batch, and there should be a certain isolation distance between the areas. The distance between various types of chicken houses is distinguished by species and generation. The distance between grandparent chicken houses should be relatively far apart, preferably 60-80 meters, and the distance between each parent chicken house is 40-60 meters, and the distance between each commercial chicken house is 20-40 meters. In short, the higher the chicken generation, the larger the chicken house spacing should be. There should be isolation measures between each chicken house, such as walls or sand trenches. The road layout in the chicken poultry farm should be divided into clean roads and dirt roads. The clean road and dirty road should not cross each other. The direction of the road is the incubator room, brooding room, breeding house, and adult chicken house. Each house has an entrance to connect to the clean road. The dirty channel is mainly used to transport chicken manure, dead chickens, and dirty equipment. The clean channel and the dirty channel should not cross to avoid contamination. The poultry farm layout should also consider the wind direction. From the upwind direction to the downwind direction, the ancestors, parental generations, and commercial generations should be arranged in order, and the brooding house, the breeding house, and the adult breeding house should be arranged according to the growth period of the chickens. This will help protect the safety of important flocks.

Broiler poultry farms mostly use flat-raising chicken poultry houses. Depending on the type of ground, the size of the chickens is different, and the density is different. Generally, there are 6-9 chickens per square meter. For commercial broilers, the stocking density is determined by the weight of the broiler produced per square meter of floor area. According to experience, a suitable value for this indicator is 24.5 kg. According to this principle, if 15,000 broiler chickens are raised and the weight is 2 kg, the required broiler poultry farm building area of the chicken house is 15,000 chickens × 2 kg/chicken ÷ 24.5 kg / square meter = 1224.5 square meters. Low density and the survival rate of chickens are higher. Egg poultry farms mostly use caged chicken houses. For example, the breeding chickens raised in square cages generally have an area of 2 square meters per single cage in production, and the number of chickens raised is about 18 hens and 2 breeding roosters. For foster poultry farms, the stocking density of chicks and medium chickens is 50-60 per square meter for 0-3 weeks old, 30 per square meter for 4-9 weeks old, and 10-15 per square meter for 10-20 weeks old.
